Magical Marrakech ★★★★
Marrakech is an assault on your senses! It's chaotic, exciting, charming and vibrant.
Each half of the city offers it's own delights – the Medina with its ancient palaces and mansions, labyrinthine of wonderful souks and time-honoured way of life, and the Ville Nouvelle with its pavement cafés, trendy boutiques, lush gardens and pretty boulevards.
For an authentic experience stay in a Riad; a traditional Moroccan house or palace with beautiful interior courtyards and gardens.
There is action around every corner. Be charmed by groups of acrobats, snake charmers, drummers, dancers, musicians and fairground acts. The city’s architecture is just as compelling: the magnificent ruin of the El Badi Palace, the delicate carving of the Saadian Tombs and, above all, the Koutoubia Minaret, the most perfect Islamic monument in North Africa.
Marrakech is a city of two halves, the ancient walled Medina, and the colonial Ville Nouvelle. Known to many as 'The Red City' and it won't take you long to discover why.
Start at the heart of the medina at action-packed Djemaa el-Fna and head north into Marrakech’s maze of souks, where once upon a time the Berber tribes traded in slaves, textiles, gold, ivory and leather, and where visitors scour the colourful & bustling alleys for treasures, traditional crafts & off course, haggle for bargains. Delve into the history of the city at Mnebhi Palace, now home to the Musee de Marrakech, displaying traditional arts, including Rabati embroidery, inlaid daggers and Fassi pottery.
