Lanzarote - 7 nights All inclusive ★★★
Lanzarote is a unique & intriguing island to explore & discover, known as the island of eternal spring. It is the most easterly of the Canary islands being just over 100km from Africa it boasts a wonderful year round climate, spectacular beaches and varied volcanic vistas. The island was given World Biosphere Reserve status by UNESCO in order to protect these fabulous lunar landscapes.
The main resorts are Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen that attract families, couples and groups of friends. If you venture away from the main towns and resorts there are many places of interest to explore, such as the stunning Timanfaya National Park in the south-west. The most symbolic sights on the island however, are those created by the union of lava & sea that give the landscape such incredible visual impact.
Puerto del Carmen on the South-East side of Lanzarote once a small fishing village is now a lively holiday hub. The waterside promenade looks over the trio of beaches with its many restaurants, bars and shops. A 10 minute walk will bring you to the quieter Playa Chica in the old town with the dive centre making it popular for scuba diving and snorkelling. To the east Playa Pocillos boasts vast swathes of sand and great waves, perfect for wind surfers.
The capital Arrecife is just a 30 minute drive away and worth a day trip to visit the Museum of Contemporary Arts, housed in the 18th century castle of San Jose and the 16th century sea fortress of Castillo San Gabriel.
